Many in the environmental movement trace their awakening to the MIT study limits to growth. Published in 1973 it was one of the first to point out that we live on a finite planet where our activities must be sustainable as there are limits to growth.
In the intervening 40 years we have followed a technology, energy & credit driven hedonistic lifestyle mostly unaware of the problem, and ignoring these limitations.
Meanwhile, I have lost count of the times I have sat in business meetings watching corporations abuse the term sustainable development. The result is business as usual with an added layer of greenwash.
